24.05.2023 | We often experience that potential customers want to introduce a Digital Signage system, but then struggle to promote it internally. In this blog post, we provide you with four arguments why it’s better to introduce a Digital Signage system sooner rather than later.
We already have an intranet / employee app
First things first: we do not see Digital Signage as a competing medium to the intranet or an employee app, but as part of an effective internal communication mix. For us, there is no question that both media are ideal for use as knowledge bases, document management or collaboration platforms.
However, both tools have the disadvantage that employees must search for information actively. What use is communication about a new building project or an update to employee regulations if employees only open the app occasionally and therefore miss the news? With Digital Signage screens, you communicate proactively. Content is noticed in passing. Screens can also be used to draw employees’ attention to intranet content and thereby increase traffic.
We have no one to maintain the system
One of the greatest challenges in communication is the lack of time. For communicated content to be perceived as current and therefore relevant, it must reach recipients quickly and in a targeted manner.
The information structure integrated in Screenimage, together with the intuitive user interface, allows department heads or team leaders to create content themselves. This reduces the editorial workload of the communications department while increasing credibility among the target audience.
In addition, existing content such as website news or social media posts can be integrated automatically via interfaces. This multiplies the reach of your communication efforts without additional effort.
No budget
It is undeniable that a professional Digital Signage solution comes at a cost. To determine whether implementing a Digital Signage system is worthwhile, you must first clarify what the actual benefits of such a solution are. In our view, the key advantage of Digital Signage is that it reaches all employees — regardless of whether they have a PC workstation or how often they check the intranet or employee app. As a result, you improve the quality of internal communication.
Studies show that well informed employees are more loyal, that projects are implemented faster and more successfully when communication is tailored to the audience, and that employee productivity even increases.
Of course, success also depends on how well you use your Digital Signage system. When implemented correctly, the positive effects (lower turnover, higher productivity, etc.) easily outweigh the operating costs.
Too many other projects at the moment
We understand the situation: numerous IT and communication projects are running simultaneously, and there is far too little time. But don’t forget that a Digital Signage system can help push internal projects forward thanks to the advantages mentioned above. Screens allow you to communicate current instructions and project progress quickly and efficiently, creating transparency.
In the end, you know your workload and capacity best. Wherever time is limited, we recommend starting with a pilot project. This can be completed quickly and reduces the investment risk.
From kick off to go live, such projects take a maximum of three months. Your main involvement is in defining the requirements. Once we have all necessary information (screen locations, corporate design guidelines, and data sources for feeds), we take over and build the system accordingly.
Templates, screen design, and integrations of third party systems can then be added with minimal effort.
