Internal communication

Digital Signage the ideal tool to reach all employees

INITIAL SITUATION

Bachem AG, headquartered in Bubendorf (BL), is a Swiss technology company active in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry and pharmacy. The company was founded in 1971. In addition to its headquarters in Switzerland, Bachem AG has other international subsidiaries.

At the headquarters in Bubendorf, there are dozens of buildings in which the various departments are housed. Bachem AG’s well-qualified and motivated employees are an important driver of its success. As in many production companies, only a small proportion of Bachem’s workforce regularly works at a PC workstation and therefore has little or no access to the intranet. To change this, the project managers were looking for a tool to communicate quickly and in a decentralised manner. The initial situation literally cried out for a solution from Screenimage. 🙂

SOLUTION

The requirements and needs were defined and recorded in a workshop at the start of the project. A major focus of the project was to define the ideal screen locations in order to really reach the entire workforce. The screens were installed next to the time clock or in the common rooms, among other locations.

The system is affectionately known internally at Bachem as «Bachem TV» and is made up of a mix of automated content and manual contributions. In addition to the latest company news and information on the company’s internal sports programme, a great deal of attention is paid to the topic of accident prevention. Prevention measures are presented on an ongoing basis, plus there is a special template with which employees are asked to proactively suggest improvement measures. This is done via a form that can be called up directly on the screen using a mobile phone (QR code).

Most of the content is recorded by the communications department. However, there are one or two people responsible for each building who have access to the respective screens. There are currently 21 systems in use at the Bubendorf site. Further screens are to be installed in the new buildings over the next few months.
