14.10.2022 | In recent weeks, we have received occasional questions about how much electricity a Digital Signage screen consumes and how energy can be saved. The good news is that Digital Signage screens use relatively little power compared to a standard desktop PC (PC including monitor) or other devices. In addition, daily power consumption can be significantly reduced with simple measures.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n

Power consumption<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Digital Signage system consists of the Digital Signage screen and a media player. Together, these devices consume around 125 W\/h. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By comparison, a standard workstation PC consumes around 135 W\/h.<\/strong> A single fluorescent tube uses more than 30 W\/h<\/strong>. Over the course of a year, a Digital Signage system operated 12 hours per day, 5 days per week, consumes 390 kilowatt hours.<\/strong> A copier, even though it spends most of its time in standby mode, can consume up to 2,980 kilowatt hours per year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, it cannot be denied that a Digital Signage system consumes more power when switched on than when switched off. However, with the right settings, power consumption can be significantly reduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savings potential<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just like on your smartphone or tablet, the brightness of screens can be reduced, which lowers energy consumption. Most devices also offer an \u201ceco mode\u201d that can be activated. However, this may reduce readability. Our internal tests have shown that even a small reduction (e.g., 10%) can significantly decrease consumption.
