Digital Signage

Infoscreens for patients, employees and visitors at Spital Thurgau AG

INITIAL SITUATION

The Münsterlingen Cantonal Hospital is part of Spital Thurgau AG, which also includes Frauenfeld Cantonal Hospital, St. Katharinental Clinic, and the Thurgau Psychiatric Services.

As part of a renovation project at Münsterlingen Cantonal Hospital, the decision-makers within the Corporate Development department took an in‑depth look at the current and future information requirements of a hospital. Following extensive analysis, the working group concluded that digital signage should be used as the primary information and communication medium.

Solution

The centerpiece of the digital signage system is a 5 m² video wall located in the entrance area. In addition, 45 systems have been installed at high‑traffic locations such as entrances, waiting areas, the hospitality area, and inpatient wards.

The screens provide information and news about the hospital, such as introductions to medical departments, events, or the restaurant menu. Individual departments also present their responsible staff members and display department‑specific information. Additional information and entertainment are provided through a news feed, public transport timetables, and the current weather report. The most popular section is the baby gallery, which showcases newborns from recent days. All of this information is fully automated, generated and displayed using existing data. Of course, manual content publishing is also possible, allowing entire groups of screens or individual displays to be controlled separately.

Since the pilot phase in 2013, the system has been continuously expanded. In addition to Münsterlingen Cantonal Hospital, screens are now also in use at the Thurgau Psychiatric Services and Frauenfeld Cantonal Hospital.

CUSTOMER OPINION
«

« Today, static communication tools such as signage panels or brochures are no longer sufficient to meet the dynamic communication needs of patients, visitors, and employees. Digital signage offers an attractive solution for communicating effectively with all of these stakeholder groups. »
